Glass is fragile and all pieces should be handled with care. The clear beveled glass I use for my suncatchers scratches very easily. Some of my stained glass suncatchers are made with a solder that contains lead and tin. Stained glass is traditionally made with materials that contain lead. This comes with minimal risk but it is a good idea to wash your hands after handling as a precaution. Keep out of reach of children. According to Proposition 65, "this product contains chemicals know to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Suncatchers that are made with lead-free solder are made from silver, tin, and copper.
All of my jewelry is made from 100% lead-free materials.
Stained glass will often have small imperfections (like bubbles and lines ) in the glass that come from the process of making the glass. These can not be avoided. The metals and finishes used in stained glass tend to naturally oxidize over time. This is a natural occurrence.
Suncatchers: To clean the glass part of your suncatcher use a non-ammonia household glass cleaner and wipe gently with a cloth. Avoid cleaning metalwork. To avoid removing or scratching the finish do not use abrasive materials such as steel wool. Suncatchers are for indoor use only. Exposure to liquids may damage the finish.
Hanging Suncatchers: Using a small nail or a hook to display your suncatcher is recommended. Do not use suction cups with attached hooks as these will often pop off windows.
Jewelry care: Avoid all liquids and polish with a soft dry cloth.
